Changes Coming to Biller Portal Roles and Permissions

Published 6/8/23

We’re introducing a ‘view-only’ feature for customer profiles. This will allow you to grant specific users access to view profiles, without the ability to make changes, ensuring greater control and security.

Key Details

  • We are renaming the existing permission “3” (currently labeled Edit Customer Profile) to View Customer Profile. However, there is no functionality change to permission 3.
  • We are creating a new permission “38” (to be named Edit Customer Profile) that allows users to make changes on the Customer Profile page. When disabled, most buttons or links on all tabs will be hidden or disabled. Select buttons, such as downloading a PDF, viewing payment details, etc., will still be available.
  • There is no functionality change for those currently using permission 3 unless you modify the user permissions.

To allow a user to view customer profiles but restrict them from making changes, simply enable permission 3 and disable permission 38 for the user.

Streamline User Management…coming soon

We are excited to announce the upcoming rollout of Roles to our biller portal. This new feature will be designed to help you save time and simplify user management, particularly for larger organizations. Setting up roles will be quick and easy; however, you can continue to use individual permissions as you do today.

To help you decide if this feature would be useful for your organization, here’s a brief overview of what you can expect with Roles:

  • Create, edit, and delete roles to manage user permissions more efficiently.
  • Customize roles by adding or removing permissions from the checklist as needed.
  • Assign a created role to as many users as you like.
  • Assign additional permissions to users outside of their role, if necessary.
  • Maintain a comprehensive history report of changes made to roles and permissions.

A checklist of permissions is already available in the Biller Portal to assign to a user. With the upcoming Roles functionality, you will be able to create specific Roles for your organization. A Role can then be assigned to a single user or multiple, depending on your needs.

If you’re a larger organization with multiple users who need similar access, this feature may help streamline your user management process. If you have a smaller organization or prefer to manage permissions individually, you can continue to do so without any changes.

This enhancement will be rolling out in the next few months so keep your eyes on upcoming Cloudbursts for more information.
